Projects are, in my opinion, a crucial aspect of any artist's life, whether you're a painter, photographer, musician, designer, or involved in another creative pursuit. They serve as a platform to push boundaries, to delve into new ideas, concepts, and visualizations, not merely thinking outside the box, but considering what can be done with it. Projects compel us to challenge ourselves, to engage our minds in creative exploration.
However, it's easy to lose ourselves in the pursuit of complexity, forgetting that simplicity often holds the greatest power. Self-expression, hard work, and dedication should be the primary driving forces behind our creative endeavours. It's better to fail in originality than to succeed within the confines of limitation.
Often, we become disheartened by the work of others, feeling that theirs surpasses ours and stands out more prominently in the crowd. But what truly defines "better" in art? Art is subjective; everyone may emotionally connect with the same piece in vastly different ways. Thus, I believe the key lies in working on what feels right at that moment in life.
"Foggy" is my latest personal project, exploring the intricacies of the human brain and our perception of life and the world around us. Frequently, we find ourselves clouded by negative thoughts, our minds taking on surreal shapes and forms, unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We may feel sadness, melancholy, and discouragement from external events, yet often there's nothing truly holding us back. We are who we perceive ourselves to be, in life, in love, in friendship, and in work.
We are the masters of our thoughts, and we alone have the
power to shift our mindset towards positivity and hard work. The project itself is elegantly simple, featuring textured objects of various shapes, illuminated by soft lights amidst a misty ambiance.
I hope you find resonance in this project
Cubes are a fundamental geometric shape and have been used in abstract art movements, such as Cubism, which was pioneered by artists like Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque in the early 20th century. In Cubism, objects are broken down into geometric forms, including cubes, to represent them from multiple viewpoints simultaneously.
Artists like M.C. Escher used cubes and other geometric shapes to create mind-bending optical illusions in their artwork. Escher's work often involved impossible constructions, like the famous "Waterfall" and "Ascending and Descending," which played with the viewer's perception of three-dimensional space.
n the 1960s and 1970s, artists like Donald Judd and Dan Flavin embraced minimalism, a movement that sought to reduce art to its essential elements. Cubes were frequently used in minimalist art as simple geometric forms, often made from industrial materials like steel or aluminium.
Immersed in my admiration for Japanese culture—its precision, serenity, creativity, and reverence for detail—I embarked on a personal journey culminating in 'The Light Box.' This project draws inspiration from the essence of Origami, a quintessential embodiment of their life philosophy.
Origami, in its simplicity, mirrors their worldview. Now, 'The Light Box' comes to life—an environment meticulously crafted to amplify the paper's elegance. It's a homage to the delicate equilibrium between simplicity and surroundings.
In this endeavour, a mere sheet of paper unveils its beauty, echoing the Japanese reverence for every creation. The environment becomes a canvas where art and context meld seamlessly.
Much like Origami's subtlety, 'The Light Box' celebrates purity. It transcends into a space where simplicity reigns supreme, resonating with the core of Japanese aesthetics.
Through 'The Light Box,' I seek to weave the essence of Origami's charm into an environment, akin to folding paper to reveal its form and spirit. It's my tribute to Japanese culture—a fusion of art, simplicity, and harmony.
"Ethereal Botany: A Personal Ode to Nick Knight's Vision
In the luminous footsteps of Nick Knight's creative brilliance, I embarked on a personal photography project that captures the delicate dance of life behind a pane of glass. 'Ethereal Botany' is a visual symphony that celebrates the intimate beauty of a small plant, magnified by the interplay of light, texture, and transparency.
Inspired by Knight's captivating artistry, I sought to distil the essence of his vision into my own lens. The plant, a symbol of nature's tenacity, is juxtaposed against the ethereal quality of glass. Like Knight's signature exploration of light, my project embraces the play of illumination and shadow to cast a spellbinding narrative.
The glass serves as more than a barrier—it's a portal that elevates the ordinary to the extraordinary. The plant, a humble entity, becomes a subject of intrigue, an exploration of textures, and an embodiment of life's fragility. The melding of visual elements creates a composition that resonates with a whisper of mystique, much like Knight's timeless works.
In 'Ethereal Botany,' I aim to pay homage to Knight's mastery while carving my path. The project is a testament to the influence of creative giants, a reminder that their vision can serve as a springboard for our own artistic evolution. By capturing the quiet dance of life behind glass, I invite viewers to experience the enchanting symbiosis of nature and light in a new and intimate light."
This powerful image is part of a trilogy that embodies my concern for the delicate relationship between nature and its surroundings. The modern landscape, marked by burgeoning construction, deforestation, and expansive urban plans, has led to a suffocation of the precious green spaces that remain.
Nature, a living entity once free to thrive, now finds itself entwined in a web of concrete, starved of the room it needs to grow and flourish. This predicament resonates with the prevailing challenge we collectively confront—a world where the verdant breath of life is imprisoned by unyielding structures.
The stark reality is a call to action. Our planet's vibrant ecosystems stand threatened, and the solution rests in our hands. We must proactively seek ways to harmonize development and preservation, ensuring that the Earth's heart continues to beat.
The visual narrative is meticulously crafted, embodying the essence of this concern. The set's simulated concrete mirrors the encroaching urban sprawl, while the delicate wires, modelling paste, and gesso breathe life into the depiction of nature's fragility. The pristine white hue, symbolizing purity, underscores the urgency of reclaiming our planet's vitality.
This trilogy speaks volumes—capturing the plight, the urgency, and the hope. It's a reminder that our actions today shape the world of tomorrow, and that by embracing balance and conservation, we can restore the symbiotic relationship between nature and the world it nurtures.
"Inspired by the moments of uncertainty that touch us all, 'On The Edge' stands as my latest personal project. It encapsulates that universal state of mind we encounter at least once in our journey.
Life rests on a delicate equilibrium between what's known and the vast unknown. Within us, questions about the future's tapestry persist. With one foot grounded and the other suspended, we navigate an ever-shifting balance. This ethos finds form in a sphere—a symbol of precarious stability, poised to roll in unforeseen directions.
This project mirrors existence's tightrope walk. The world we know today can reshape abruptly, as demonstrated by our current reality. Daily existence is an act of teetering on the brink; certainty fades, replaced by a realm of unknowns.
Every dawn places us on that edge, where the future's puzzle is missing pieces. The ambiguity becomes a canvas for limited foresight, where outcomes defy precise definition.
The very backdrop of this vision emerged from my hands—an entirely self-designed and crafted set. The central structure blends chipboard, XPS foam, plastic, and concrete, each element reflecting the tangible and intangible forces shaping our lives.
'On The Edge' resonates with our collective narrative, encapsulating the fleeting stability we seek in a capricious world. It's a testament to resilience, uncertainty, and the audacity of living on the cusp of the unknown."
Light is like the lifeblood of both living creatures and the Earth's evolution. It's also the magic ingredient in photography, which literally translates from the ancient Greek as "drawing with light."
In our photography adventures, we can work hours and days finding the perfect, project, angle, and composition, but if we don't get the lighting right, all that hard work can easily go to waste!
It's funny how we often think we need tons of fancy equipment to get great lighting, when sometimes all we really need can be one light setup. Take Rembrandt, for example. He's famous for his beautiful paintings, and guess what? He often used just one light and a bit of fill!
Today, I've set myself a cool challenge: I'm going to create a project where I'll exclusively use one light source but shaped it in different ways.
As subject, I will use one of the most challenging shapes to photograph, a sphere. Everything is shot in camera without any background comped in.
"Inspired by the master painter Giorgio de Chirico, I embarked on a personal journey that pays homage to his captivating artistry. De Chirico's evocative pieces have long held me in fascination, conjuring a potent nostalgia that tugs at the soul. His mastery lies in orchestrating empty arcades, towering structures, and enigmatic mannequins into surreal landscapes that evoke a sense of both 'power and freedom.'
My project, a labour of personal devotion like my previous works, stands as a testament to De Chirico's legacy. Just as he meticulously crafted his visions, I designed and constructed the entire set myself—a process marked by thoughtful planning and meticulous execution.
The gradual pace of my process parallels the deliberate strokes of a painter's brush. Each element is placed with purpose, weaving a narrative that captures the essence of De Chirico's ethereal allure. The result is a visual symphony that echoes his profound influences.
In my interpretation, I've sought to capture the very spirit that courses through De Chirico's masterpieces. An atmosphere of enigmatic nostalgia takes shape, where towering structures stand as sentinels of both power and freedom, and empty spaces pulse with untold stories.
This project, a personal homage, aims to keep alive the essence of De Chirico's artistry. It is a tribute to the creative process, the enduring allure of his works, and the timeless interplay between power, freedom, and the enigmatic depths of the human experience."
"Embracing the Tangible: A Project in Contrast to the Digital Deluge
In a world awash with CGI and AI, where the lines between reality and simulation blur, I embarked on a unique challenge—a project that defies the digital tide. From a distance, my creation exudes the appearance of intricate computer-generated art, yet in truth, it's birthed from simple materials: cardboard paper and plexiglass.
The allure of AI as a creative aid beckons, and while I acknowledge its potential to streamline certain aspects, I stand firm in my belief that creativity should never be eclipsed. AI is a tool, not a master—it can enhance, but it cannot replicate the intricacies of the human mind.
Through my project, I salute the artistry that emerges from hands-on craftsmanship. With each stroke of cardboard and plexiglass, I weave a narrative that defies the ephemeral allure of pixels. This endeavour underscores the enduring power of tangible creation, a testament to the magic that transpires when physical materials meld under the guidance of human imagination.
As I present my upcoming images, I invite you to join me in celebrating the beauty of the analogue in a digital age. Let's revel in the tactile, the imperfect, and the unmistakable essence of handcrafted artistry."
Harmonious Duality: Miro and Mondrian Inspired Fusion
In a celebration of two iconic painters, Miro’ and Mondrian, I embarked on a creative endeavour that marries their distinct styles into a harmonious dance. 'Harmonious Duality' is a project that fuses the abstract playfulness of Miro with the geometric precision of Mondrian, resulting in a visual narrative that transcends traditional boundaries.
Miro's whimsical forms and vibrant colours are juxtaposed against Mondrian's bold lines and primary hues. These seemingly disparate worlds intermingle on my canvas, creating a new tapestry of artistry. The project stands as an homage to the pioneers of abstraction, a tribute that underscores the power of creative fusion.
Miro's organic shapes, often reminiscent of subconscious musings, find new context against the backdrop of Mondrian's stark geometry. The interplay of curves against lines, of bold hues alongside subtler shades, evokes a sense of tension and harmony, a visual dialogue that invites contemplation.
Through 'Harmonious Duality,' I aim to reimagine the past through a contemporary lens. I honour Miro and Mondrian not by replicating their work, but by allowing their spirits to guide a new manifestation of artistic expression. The project challenges the conventional, inviting viewers to navigate the intriguing intersection of two iconic artistic souls.
As you explore 'Harmonious Duality,' I encourage you to see the beauty in contrasts and connections. Embrace the power of creative fusion, where two distinct styles unite to weave a unique narrative that transcends time and genre."
"Water Glass: A Symphony of Simplicity and Light
In 'Water Glass,' my personal project unveils the enchantment that lies within the simplest of objects—the unassuming water glass. Against a canvas of vibrant hues, I harness the interplay of light and colour to elevate the mundane into an extraordinary visual symphony.
In a world that often celebrates complexity, I find solace in the elegance of minimalism. The water glass, a symbol of elemental purity, becomes my muse. Its understated form is a vessel for creative exploration, an embodiment of the extraordinary found in everyday simplicity.
Coloured lighting breathes life into this project, each hue an emotion, a story, a sensation. As light dances through the glass, it refracts and reflects, painting fleeting patterns that evoke a sense of wonder. The marriage of glass and light becomes a kinetic art form—an ever-evolving visual experience.
Amidst the play of colours, 'Water Glass' becomes a canvas of emotion. Warm tones infuse cosy familiarity, while cool shades invoke serenity. The glass morphs into a storyteller, each angle a new chapter, each hue a different mood.
'Simplicity' and 'elegance' are not synonyms for 'ordinary.' In 'Water Glass,' these qualities blossom into a kaleidoscope of visual wonder. Join me in embracing the allure of the uncomplicated, the magic of light, and the enchantment hidden within the everyday."
"Shapes Unveiled: An Ode to Geometry and Aesthetics
In a world of intricate design and complex narratives, I embarked on a creative journey that celebrates the purity of shapes. 'Shapes Unveiled' is more than a project—it's an exploration of the fundamental building blocks that shape our visual world.
Geometry, often overshadowed by elaborate concepts, finds its moment in the spotlight. With a discerning eye, I capture the elegant lines, curves, and angles that define our surroundings. Circles, squares, triangles, and more, each shape stands as a cornerstone of visual language.
Yet, 'Shapes Unveiled' goes beyond the surface. Each shape carries its own narrative—circles exude wholeness, while squares evoke stability. Triangles, the embodiment of dynamic energy, add intrigue. These shapes, like words in a lexicon, come together to craft a silent dialogue that resonates with the soul.
The project's allure is in its simplicity. Stripped of excess, it homes in on the essence of design, celebrating the beauty in its purest form. By embracing the power of minimalism, 'Shapes Unveiled' transcends the confines of ordinary, transforming geometry into art.
As you delve into this project, I invite you to reimagine the world around you. See beyond objects and structures and witness the symphony of shapes that compose our reality. 'Shapes Unveiled' is my visual testament to the aesthetic harmony that underlies every corner of our existence."
Quantum" is my new personal project, a compelling and ambitious exploration that bridges the worlds of science and art, offering a creative interpretation of the enigmatic and abstract concepts found in quantum physics.
The images are shot entirely on camera combining various photography techniques like long exposure and flash, light painting, colour gels, double exposure, and high-speed photography as well as simple sets, backgrounds, and props. I like to push myself out of my comfort zone and creating something new every project.
Quantum physics is a field that deals with the behaviour of particles on a subatomic level, often defying classical intuition and leading to strange phenomena like superposition and entanglement. Using these techniques, I wanted to convey some of the mysterious and abstract aspects of quantum physics through visual art.
"Bloody Conflict: Unveiling the Cost of Endless War
In 1961, President Eisenhower prophetically warned of the dangers posed by the military-industrial complex, a warning that rings hauntingly true today as we find ourselves ensnared in an unending cycle of conflict. Over half a century later, the world remains entangled in seemingly boundless warfare.
Global leaders, instead of pursuing peace, perpetuate a culture of war driven by profit and power. Trillions are squandered annually on weapons and security, resources that could instead uplift citizens, forge new infrastructure, and mend societal divides. But alas, the allure of profit and power has corrupted the noble pursuit of human welfare.
Politicians, guided by vested interests, uphold an agenda that benefits corporations and lobbyists rather than humanity. Despite public opposition, the military-industrial complex persists, fueled by political and governmental support that perpetuates its destructive course.
War is a malevolent force, a harbinger of death, despair, and suffering. It thrives on destruction, eroding social structures, education systems, healthcare networks, and economies. The toll of war is incalculable, as history has claimed 230 million lives over a century.
The grim reality is that the agenda of the powerful seldom wavers. Propaganda ensnares the masses, directing them to fight an invisible enemy in the name of 'national interest.' The cost is the well-being of the nation and its people.
As conscientious observers, we must challenge this cycle of devastation, demand accountability, and shift our societies away from a path of ruin. Let us strive for a world where the pursuit of peace and human prosperity triumph over the insatiable appetite for profit and power. The battle against this perpetual darkness is not one of weapons, but of collective conscience."
"From the boundless allure of the cosmos, I birthed 'Gravity' – a personal venture ignited by the universe's energy and enigma. This undertaking celebrates the force that draws all towards the core of existence.
'Gravity' mirrors the universe's dance. It's a force unseen yet everywhere, cradling Earth's orbit, embracing our atmosphere, and entwined with our very selves.
Stones, ancient storytellers of Earth's tapestry, adorn my project. Their diverse origins echo the universe's mosaic.
In minimalist architecture, I've frozen harmony's perfection. It echoes nature's delicate balance and the universe's geometry.
Like gravity, unseen yet binding, this project unites science, art, and cosmic wonder. It beckons us to fathom unseen ties shaping our reality.
'Gravity' embodies both science's elegance and cosmic awe. It's a tribute to the universe's dance – a tangible ode to the cosmos."
"Sphere: Textures Unveiled
'Sphere' is my personal project, a captivating exploration of a single shape dressed in a multitude of textures. Through my lens, the sphere becomes a canvas for texture tales.
A weathered sphere speaks of time's imprint, etched with stories of endurance. A polished sphere gleams, a reflection of meticulous craftsmanship.
Venturing further, a rugged sphere wears nature's touch, a tapestry of coarse fibres. A velvety sphere whispers luxury, while a metallic one reflects futurism.
'Sphere' captures more than shape; it's a tactile symphony, a visual and sensory journey through diverse textures. Join me as I unveil the world's textures, inviting you to experience touch through sight."
This project is a response to what many people around the world felt during the Covid 19 Pandemic and what some other people experience during their lifetime.
Since the pandemic has started, I felt a disconnection with the surrounding world and mainly between people. We have sadly begun unsure of the human’s contact, and we started to saw the others as a threat.
As an artist I felt like be forced to distance and pushed away from the world which for me was a safe place to be. Immediately that comfort zone changed in a blink of an eye. The world begun somehow alienating and I felt I had to connect back with that world through a non-verbal communication and not surrender to the forced reality and changing. I had in mind a quote from Picasso: Without great solitude, not serious work is possible. I have then start to work and visualize what I have wanted to express though imaginary. My main inspiration come from painters such as Edward hopper with his lonely people, Giorgio de Chirico and Osvaldo Louis Guglielmi with their empty streets. I have built different environments which usually are very busy and crowed but this time the focus was only on one object. An object left alone with no contact to the others, left it there fighting its own loneliness. I believe many people around the world feel isolated, secluded, because of being cut off by circumstances or by wish. Solitude is a subject which reflects our daily life, our approach with the world and the others. I felt so there wasn’t a better occasion for me to bring my thoughts to life with the project. I have taken the chance to use all my free time to build from scratch surreal world and express with these the feeling of Solitude. The unreal corridor with only one door, painted red as colour of warfare, struggled to engage with the rest of the world. The facade of the building on an empty street with only one window, painted in yellow as optimist for a better change. The playground placed in the desert, the emptiest place in the world. A place where the chance to find life and survive is very little. The toy horse painted in green to resemble a new beginning, hopping that things will change, and life will go back to normal. The empty theatre with only one chair, rooted to its position and hoping the show would go on. To finish the man within the walls in the desert as a place forced to live in because of the restrictions imposed, restriction which cut our selves off from the rest of the world. A very lonely place to live without contact with the others. I hope this project brings to the viewer an awareness on how solitude can isolate ourselves and change our balance with nature. The unreal world is not so surreal as it looks like, it is instead the reality we all face during our lifetime.
This is a photographic exploration of New York City's iconic skyscrapers, my favourite city's architectural essence. This series transforms these towering structures into surreal compositions through the meticulous layering and compositing of multiple images.
The project captures the interplay of form, texture, and light, highlighting the intricate patterns of glass, steel, and reflections that characterize the city’s skyline. By abstracting and reinterpreting these elements, the series transcends the physicality of the buildings to evoke a sense of urban energy and perpetual motion.
Each image delves into themes of structure and chaos, solitude within density, and the ceaseless upward thrust that defines New York's architectural spirit. The compositions blur the line between reality and imagination, inviting viewers to see the city's vertical landscape in a new and thought-provoking light.
